Aftercare Advice
Below is an explanation of how you may feel following reflexology and tips to maximise the benefits of your reflexology session.
Reactions After Reflexology
Not all clients notice reactions after reflexology and it is important to remember that some responses can be purely coincidental. Reactions following reflexology may be viewed by clients as very positive, for example improvement in sleep and/or an increase in their sense of well-being, but may also include signs of the body becoming temporarily unsettled typically for 24-48 hours (Healing Crisis)

Aftercare - How To Maximise Your Session
Try to drink plenty of water and/or herbal tea. Avoid coffee and alcohol following reflexology and, if you are able, an early night is always highly recommended. Support your digestive system by eating light, fresh foods and taking gentle exercise. If you feel emotions rising try to approach them without judgement. Either acknowledge and let those feelings go, or use them as a reflective starting point to work on in the future. For clients feeling energised after sessions try to conserve that energy for your own leisure time, rather than expending it on a to-do-list of tasks. Some things really won't hurt to wait.
Lifestyle - Stretch, Switch Off & Relax
Light exercise is a great way to supplement your reflexology session. I find many clients hold a lot of tension in their shoulders, jaws and necks and whilst we can work on these areas through the reflexes on the feet, for continued well-being and freedom of movement 'stretching it out' using yoga postures or pilates techniques regularly pays dividends.
